Two weeks ago, Netflix gave fans a glimpse on how the animated Witcher movie would look like, and now just recently we even got a full-fledged trailer giving a better picture on what the story is about and of the film’s characters.
The movie revolves around one of the fans’ favourite characters and Geralt’s wise mentor, Vesemir. Only he is much younger and loves his job of earning coins by slaying monsters. Details available right now are much shallow, but in the trailer the ritual of making a Witcher can be seen along with the usual distaste of people towards their fellow monster hunting mutants. There’s also a nod to Geralt’s bathtub meme, only this time it’s young Vesemir.
Developed by the makers of Dota: Dragon’s Blood
The animation looks stunning and is being handled by Studio Mir, a Korean animation house. Studio Mir has also previously worked on Dota: Dragon’s Blood and Voltron: Legendary Defender, both which were positively received by the community. You can watch the trailer right here:
“The world of The Witcher expands in this anime origin story: Before Geralt, there was his mentor Vesemir — a swashbuckling young witcher who escaped a life of poverty to slay monsters for coin. But when a strange new monster begins terrorizing a politically-fraught kingdom, Vesemir finds himself on a frightening adventure that forces him to confront the demons of his past.”Here’s the official description by Netflix on The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf
The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf release date
The animated movie will be airing on Netflix on 23rd August and will be exclusive to the streaming service platform.
Free DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Along with The Witcher Season 2 dropping in December, CD Projekt Red also has some goodies in store for the Witcher fans. A free DLC will be given to owners of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition, regardless of the platform they own the game at. The DLC will be inspired by the Netflix series so it might give the show watchers an opportunity to try the game.
