Remedy entertainment Announces Sequel and Multiplayer Spin-Off for Control

by Hafsa Asim

Condor, a multiplayer spin-off of Remedy Entertainment’s hit game Control is a work in progress. As announced by the developer, the new project is partnered up with 505 Games to serve as a co-publisher for the “4-player cooperative PvE” game. A release date for the new game is not announced yet but it is known that the game will not be released on last-gen consoles. The game will be released on platforms such as Xbox series XlS, PlayStation 5, and PC. Condor is good news for those looking for a bigger-budgeted Control-game version.

Apart from the multiplayer aspect of Condor and several other details that are mentioned above, nothing else is available to give us a hint about how is the game’s progress coming. However, what we do know is that the Northlight engine of Remedy Entertainment has just received its budget that is just under $30 million.

The Game Director of the Control franchise, Mikael Kasurinen, agreed that there are tons of questions for Remedy Entertainment working on the new multiplayer game, as the studio is well known for making single-player games. He further labeled this new multiplayer game as an exciting challenge.

Kasurinen stated that he understands the skepticism surrounding the “multiplayer” tag, but he believes in the company and himself that the new game will not compromise the true essence of the studio. Moreover, he talked about the changed thought process regarding angles and techniques to develop Condor.

In addition to Condor, something else has gained popularity in the Control universe. Kasurinen said that a high level of collaboration has been outlined to further magnify the Control franchise with a bigger budget.

At the present, neither of the Control projects has been assigned a release date by Remedy Entertainment but the game director suggested that it would be a while before they are presented.
