On Wednesday, Nintendo and ‘The Pokemon Company’ held a Pokemon Presents broadcast, and the company’s president, Tsunekazu Ishihara, launched Pokemon Unite – a team-based strategic game. It is being developed by Tencent’s TiMi studios who have developed massive games like COD: Mobile and Honors of Kings. The game is set to come on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, however, there has been no announcement of a release date yet.
The official trailer of Pokemon Unite was posted coincidentally, most of the fans aren’t buying this news, but it’s still exciting.
Main confusion about Pokemon Unite
The game appears to be a MOBAs, or more like Pokemon League of Legends or perhaps Pokemon Dota 2. The game has a feature of 5 on 5 battle where you can either team up or fight against each other and increase your level while completing the missions. Earn points, battle wild Pokemon while capturing them, and win by scoring highly at the end.
You can also get new moves to be adapted for your playstyle while battling with Pokemon. Level up by strengthening your Pokemon and equip those ultimate abilities. Anyway, the game’s strategy resembles other pre-existing strategic games, so it does fall under the category of the MOBA genre.
The cast of Pokemon Unite
The confirmed Pokemon in the game will be Pikachu, Squirtle, Charmander, Bulbasaur, Rioulu, Machop, Snorlax, Talonflame, Clefairy along with their evolutions. We’re also expected to see Charmeleon, Haunter, Machoke, Charizard, Lucario in the game later, and possibly more characters would be revealed once the game officially starts.
Pokemon Unite is absolutely free!
The game doesn’t require any money to be started up, which is why it is labeled as free by Nintendo. However, there are always several ways they get you to spend your money on such as microtransactions, the same feature in the Pokemon Go.
Moreover, you can play Pokemon Unite on Android, iOS, and Nintendo switch. The game also has a feature of cross-play, thus you can play with your teammates no matter what platform you select.
The Pokemon Company is trying to bring its A-game. Last week they launched New Pokemon Snap, free-to-play Pokemon Cafe Mix, Pokemon Smile (a toothbrushing app), and some major evolutions in Pokemon Go.
For now, that everything that we could gather regarding Pokemon Unite, however, stay connected since we’d be updating you more about the game as soon as the additional information comes up.
