How to buy a used Graphics Card? Should I buy a Used Graphics Card? What should I look for when purchasing a used Graphics card?

If you all have such questions, make sure to read the complete article.

So, the first question you need to ask yourself when buying a graphics card is

Do you actually need to buy a used Graphics Card?

If you are buying a GPU for gaming and your PC budget is above Rs.70,000, I will recommend you to buy a new graphics card. With a high budget, you don’t need to buy a used GPU. Buy a new one as they come with a complete 1-year warranty and you don’t need to worry about issues like overheating or whether the card was used for mining or not. If you want to buy new Graphics Card online, make sure to buy from here

But if your budget is below Rs. 60,000, then, I’ll recommend buying a used GPU as in that range you can get a better-used graphics card for the same or even less price than new GPUs. Keeping in mind the financial crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the local economy has crashed, which in return has caused the US Dollar to reach sky-high. Due to which the prices of new GPUs are increasing day by day. Keeping in mind these situations, you should buy a used GPU, especially if your budget is low.

This brings us to our second question which is

What should I look for when buying a used Graphics card?

Buying a used Graphics Card may sound confusing, but with the right knowledge and implementation, it can be made easy. Here are some tips you should consider when buying used GPUs.

1. Only Buy From Trusted Sellers

There are several places and sellers out there selling used GPUs, but always make sure you are buying from a trusted seller. There are many sellers on Facebook, but make sure not to buy from strangers. Therefore before buying from a person on Facebook, make sure to ask in different groups like Pakistani PC Gamers. The highest risk when buying Graphics Card is that you will get one that was used for mining. Now how to tell if a Graphics card is mined or not? Well, there is no easy way to know if a Graphics Card is mined or not. The only way you can avoid such issues is by buying from a trusted seller.

Sometimes, even after buying from a trusted seller, the Graphics Card turns out to be faulty after a few weeks. So always try to buy the one with at least 15 days of local warranty.

2. Check for physical damage on the GPU

If you are buying from an unknown seller, make sure to look for the physical damage on the card. Make sure there is no discoloration on the circuit board, which is mainly due to overheating. In case if there is any discoloration, make sure not to buy that card.

What to do if the GPU temperature is High?

If you bought a used GPU and the GPU temperature is high it is mainly due to the dust inside GPU.  In this case take the GPU out of your system and clean it gently or use a can of compressed air to remove the dust from GPU. If the problem still persists make sure to change the thermal paste of the GPU.
