GTA map mods are suddenly being targeted by Rockstar games and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive. The sudden targeting of map mods as a group has thrown everyone off-guard and it’s not helpful that neither of the companies has responded. The situation is clearly strange and has caused speculation among fans. As you would expect, some of these speculations are being linked to GTA 6, while others are linked to rumors that Rockstar Games is preparing to remaster and re-release several older games of Grand Theft Auto franchise. Regrettably, no one knows what’s going on, but something does appear to be awry.
It all started last week when the two companies ganged up on Vice City Remastered and San Andreas, the two most infamous mods for GTA 5, and as noted by Tez2 both the modes targeted have been up for 5 years, it didn’t make any sense.
GTA 4 and 3, were targeted and taken down not long after the previous mods.
Unluckily, for now, we have no facts but speculation. As we all are wondering, is this related to GTA 6? Possibly yes, but then taking down map mods involving bully doesn’t make any sense. So we move on to our next speculation, Could this be related to the abovementioned remaster rumors? It could be true, but again taking down bully mod is out of the equation. The most likely reason for these actions seems to be involving the upcoming updated version of GTA 5 on PS5 and Xbox Series X that Rockstar Games will be releasing later this year.
Even though Rockstar Games can put everyone out of their miseries by a single comment but since the speculation has been going on for a long time now, it seems no comment is forthcoming. That said, if one is provided, we would be sure to bring you up to date.
