Godfall, a looter-slasher with gorgeous visuals is now coming to the PS4, being previously available on only PC and PS4. The game was meant to be one of the true next-gen games that would portray the capabilities of the PS5, but Gearbox has decided to bring the game to the previous-gen console, the PS4.
Fire and Darkness Expansion
Launching on August 10, the PS4 version will come with a new update bringing the Fire and Darkness expansion, introducing several new experiences and cosmetics. The update will bring the Fire realm to the game, which was thought to be cut out from the base game. A total of 40 new items and skins will come with the update along with many new rooms and enemies to fight.
Problems with Godfall
Godfall showed a lot of promise when it was first revealed, set in a unique world with strong characters and lore. The game had beautiful visuals and the combat was solid. However, the game lacked depth, the story was mediocre and the game became repetitive after a time. Launching it on the PS4 will open the game to a wider audience and might make it a little more than a forgettable launch title for the PS5.
Free upgrade to the PS5 and crossplay
Purchasing the game on the PS4 will give players a free upgrade to the PS5 version. There will also be cross-play support so players of both consoles can team up and play together.
