Battlefield 2042 is looking bigger and better than ever, the trailers released by EA so far have been amazing and fans are excited to see what more EA has to offer before the game finally launches. Luckily for them, EA is not done with the promotional material just yet and has prepared a short film which will expand more on the lore of the game. You can watch the film right here when it releases.
Since Battlefield 2042 has no campaign, most of the initial world building will be done by this film. From there on onwards, the story will continue largely similar to how Call of Duty manages it, by releasing some in-game event along with a cinematic every new season. Although this does not substitute a proper full fledged campaign, it’s still nice to know that some sort of world building is still taking place.
The game revolves around a world that has been brought down on its knees. No economic stability, unpredictable weather conditions, no satellites to communicate, and no government to trust. Amidst all this chaos, a group of 1.2 billion people have come together to form an alliance known as the Non-Patriated and they have to choose a side between US and Russia as an open war is imminent.
On Battlefield’s YouTube Channel, there is a 15 second teaser where snippets of the film can be seen before it premieres August 12th at 8am PDT, 5pm CEST, and 8pm in Pakistan. The teaser shows how bad the weather has become, military helicopters flying into a storm, and how the Non-Patriated have been neglected throughout the whole ordeal.
Judging by the fan’s positive response on Battlefield 2042’s previous trailers, it’s safe to assume that this short film will have the same effect. The story is intriguing and fans are excited to learn more about it.
